Don't Fall for a Spoof Attack!
Spoofing is when cybercriminals disguise themselves as trusted companies or contacts in order to gain your trust and steal personal information. Spoofing attempts are delivered in many ways—texts, fake websites, emails, phone calls and social media. Hackers are very good at manipulating people into believing these communications are real. Take these steps to help protect yourself:
- Don’t click on anything in an unsolicited email, text, or social media message
- Don’t answer phone calls from numbers you don’t recognize
- Set up two-factor authentication on accounts that allow it
- Remember, HarborOne will NEVER call, text, or email you to ask for your username, password, or security code
