HarborOne Foundation Awards Grant to South Boston Neighborhood House

(Brockton, MA) – September 16, 2021 – South Boston Neighborhood House (SBNH) was among twenty recipients of the HarborOne Foundation’s recent grant round totaling $195,000 in awards. The grant to SBNH will support the organization’s Senior Program, impacting the lives of 350 seniors each year. The South Boston Neighborhood House Senior Programs aim is to reduce social isolation by offering older adults programming and services designed to maintain dignity, health, independence, self-confidence, social and emotional well-being.

The HarborOne Foundation was created in 2016 to support and expand the work of community non-profits including those organizations that promote educational opportunity, create access to safe and affordable housing and provide basic human services to our most vulnerable citizens. Grantees for this round of funding include:
Boys & Girls Club of Metro South received a $20,000 grant to help sustain critical teen educational programs that provide the resources and opportunities to teens to navigate and access higher education and achieve success in their future careers.
Father Bill’s & MainSpring received a $20,000 grant to support the operations of the prevention, shelter, housing, and workforce programs, which serve nearly 5,000 people annually across Southern Massachusetts.
Boston Community Pediatrics received a $10,000 grant to help expand and deepen the response to social determinants of health to an additional 250 families.
Cape Verdean Association of Brockton, Inc. received a $10,000 grant to help fund a program coordinator to assist and reach highly vulnerable senior citizens. This Advocate position will allow for expanded services for seniors in the areas of information, referrals, translation, transportation and friendly visits.
Community Servings, Inc. received a $10,000 grant to support the Nutrition Program for Critically Ill Individuals/Families across the southeast region. This contribution will help to further expand this program to meet the growing community need, driven by the historic levels of food insecurity stemming from the COVID-19 crisis.
First Parish Church in Taunton received a $10,000 grant to create a new food pantry in the downtown Taunton area to better serve local residents especially those impacted by Covid.
Health Imperatives received a $10,000 grant to support the Healthy Plymouth Project which will provide 3,000 low-income individuals with sexual and reproductive health care, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition assistance, and crisis counseling, group support and advocacy.
One Family, Inc. received a $10,000 grant to help support the launch of a pilot partnership with Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital to address social and racial disparities in access to well-paying careers in the hospital network and help Brockton-area residents recover from the economic impacts of COVID-19.
OneGoal Massachusetts received a $10,000 grant to help continue the core program and grow the Early College pilot program in Fall River, while addressing the lingering impacts of Covid-19.
Playworks New England received a $10,000 grant to help restore access to safe, healthy play for vulnerable elementary school students in New Bedford, Taunton, and Brockton who have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.
Project Citizenship, Inc. received a $10,000 grant to help provide opportunities to serve disadvantaged clients facing physical, logistical, health challenges, along with those who cannot leave their care duties of children, sick or elderly family members to attend workshops.
Quincy Community Action Programs, Inc. received a $10,000 grant to support QCAP's Financial REACH Center. REACH serves low-income households in Quincy and surrounding towns, including Weymouth, Milton, and Braintree.
School on Wheels of Massachusetts received a $10,000 grant to help provide customized education services and learning resources to an estimated 300 Pre-K to College students and distribute new grade-level backpacks to an estimated 6,500 MA students.
South Boston Neighborhood House, Inc. received a $10,000 grant to support the South Boston Neighborhood House Senior Program, impacting the lives of 350 seniors each year.
Toward Independent Living & Learning, Inc. received a $10,000 grant to help bring supportive technology to 50 people served within their residential homes in the South Shore area. TILL’s group residences offer 24-hour staffing support, medical/behavioral oversight, training/assistance with personal care and independent living skills for the person with developmental disabilities or acquired brain-injury.
DOVE, Inc. received a $5,000 grant to help provide emergency shelter to domestic violence survivors and their families 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Horizons for Homeless Children, Inc. received a $5,000 grant to help support the Horizons' Southeast Region Playspace Program which provides vital developmental play and learning to more than 200 young children living in 20 family shelters in Southeastern Massachusetts despite their lacking a permanent home.
NeighborWorks Southern New Hampshire received a $5,000 grant to help support the delivery of homeownership and financial wellness education seminars and one-on-one counseling through HOMEteam, a collaborative program with a geographic footprint that extends from southern New Hampshire to the Lakes Region.
Veterans Transition House (VTH) received a $5,000 grant to help the Meals Program provide daily meals to approximately 95 homeless and at-risk veterans across Southeastern Massachusetts.
Webster House received a $5,000 grant to help address the basic needs, such as food, basic medical supplies, hygiene products, and clothing for children living at Webster House.
